Assessment

We’ve been doing our animation since last semester and we are not yet done with it. We are now in our final stretch in doing the animation. We have only 10 days left for us to be able to do all the necessary things for the animation. From drawing to scanning, tracing to coloring and from sound effects to animating. We know for a fact that we should have done all these things during our slack time so that we would be able to pass this on time.

Yes! We lack time management. That is why what we are doing right now is time boxing. Hell yeah! It is cramming and we know that this kind of attitude is a big NO in corporate world.

As of this time, the only thing we need to do is to finish doing the ending scene of our animation. We are not yet done in tracing it. Hopefully by Monday, we are already done with it so that we would be able to import it in Toon Boom.

I agree with the other groups’ rants with regards on hindrances that we’ve encountered. One of which is the projects from the other subjects. And it is not just a simple project that they are giving. It created conflicts among us because we were so confused on what project we are going to do first.

The submission of the First Draft of our animation is on February 11, 2008. We only have less than two weeks to finish our animation. Most probably within this week, we are already done with our final draft. Way to go, Lowlypuff Production!

Being part of an animation team is not easy. You have to work hard. But, I am glad that our group were able to cope up with the requirements we need to do. I have learned that animation is all about dedication, discipline and trust. You have to dedicate yourself in every task that is assigned to you. Being disciplined would help us to focus on our work. And trust, we have to trust our team mates in their respective tasks that is assigned to them.

But of course, this is not just all about work. As we went on with our project, we were able to establish friendship, not just in our team but with other teams as well. We were able to establish a strong bond among us which we, ourselves can never break. Priceless!

This project is not yet over. I am looking forward to work with my team mates again as we move to a higher level of responsibilty. I know it would be tougher and more difficult, but we can survive as long as we work as team.

I had a good experience while doing our animation. I am glad that I became part of this group. Each of us has its own responsibility on what particular things we have to do. Aside from learning and doing our tasks, I also gained friendship from them which made our work easier because we became comfortable with each other. We became closer as time passes by and I hope working with them again in another project.

Before our actual animation, our production team came up first with a concept. At first, it was quite confusing because we really do not have an idea as to what story and concept that we are going to include in our short animation. After an hour of brainstorming session with our group and the class, our team was able to develop our story and that brainstorming session really helped a lot. I learned that a short animation is not as easy as it looks like considering the fact that there are so many things involved before starting the project such as character model, background design, line testing, key framing, and clean up. I am the key animator in our team and it is my job to do the line testing, animating and cleaning up. It requires a lot of time especially in our drawings and animating scenes in flash or the line testing.

Doing animation as our final requirement is one of the greatest experiences that I had in my college life. Aside from dealing with my 3 other groupmates, I also had the chance to know their behaviors as time goes by. Working on it is not that easy, aside from it takes time, it also takes a lot of patience. I’m very thankful that as a team, we divided the tasks and assigned ourselves to work on a particular task for our animation production and each of us did our very best to make it. The experience was great because we became closer and we gained friendship. We had also some bonding that we never did before.
